Description Casale La Torre is an ideal holiday rental for families or groups of friends looking for peace and quiet, but also for proximity to seaside and to major attractions such as Capri, Positano, Sorrento, Pompeii. The lovely hill villages of the Sorrento Peninsula largely follow the farming and fishing traditions of earlier generations and the distant crowing of the roosters and peel of church bells are as important for the locals today as for their forebears. The villa is built on two terraced levels of land and has been converted into three apartments, each with a separate entrance and outdoor space. On the lower level, extensive lawned areas and gardens wind around two sides of the villa and expand onto a small promontory where there is a large swimming pool and solarium with enviable 270° views over the sea and hills of the area. Accommodation Two of the apartments are reached from footpaths on the lower level, whilst a winding footpath, slightly uphill, leads to the second level apartment (Primula) which has its own courtyard and panoramic rooftop terrace. The units are decorated with colour wash in rich tones of coral, green and primrose yellow. They are furnished with a mix of restored antique pieces, country and ethnic furniture; lovely prints and colourful soft furnishings add to the cheering feel of the house. Corallo - sqm 60 - 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom Il Corallo is the villetta decorated in a warm coral pink. Features include a lovely sun room - sitting room looking out to the garden, a dining area with open kitchen, a matrimonial bedroom with window opening to the garden, and a smaller twin bedroom with trundle beds, also with window to the garden. The shower room is very nicely decorated Il Verde - sqm 75 - 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom Il Verde is decorated in country green tones and is the larger of the apartments. Its features include a dining - living area with open kitchen, and window and door opening out to the front garden; a spacious matrimonial bedroom; a twin bedroom in which the beds can be joined on request, with window opening towards the pool; a single bedroom without window which may suit a young adult or a nanny. The bathroom features a very ample shower recess Primula - sqm 60 - 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom Primula is the panoramic attic apartment, decorated in rich primrose yellow and features a spacious and warm matrimonial bedroom with lovely wrought iron bed and prints, a bathroom with shower and old-world English replica fittings. The open kitchen opens on to two terraces: one is the rooftop terrace overlooking the sea and village below; and the other with pergola opens onto a large lawned area within an enclosed garden. The villa has spacious outdoor areas and well kempt lawns. Each apartment has a separate outdoor dining area, and when rented as a whole, there are a choice of large outdoor areas which can cater for the entire group.
Position Casale la Torre is accessed through electric gates off the asphalted road and approximately 500 mt up a winding driveway. Access to the beach: Generally not that easy in the Sorrento-Amalfi Coast, but you can reach a nice pebbly beach by car in about 10 minutes. There is a swimming spot nearby (about 700m) but is mainly rocks, like the rest of the Coast. Car is necessary to reach the coast. As the road winds out along the coast road from Sorrento, one can tangibly feel that they are leaving the city way of life behind. Local farmers (contadini) with their three wheeled Ape Utes tend the olive plantations that string along the rocky hillsides and every now and again the bushes open up to the stretches of blue sea and sights of Capri and the other islands in the Bay of Naples.> more

Special Notes for Casale La Torre, Sorrento, Marciano, ItalyThe rates listed above refer to the whole villa; please enquire for rates of the individual units. 2011 prices are provisional and may be revised, however most owners will accept bookings at 2010 prices until the new prices are confirmed. Please send an enquiry and we'll respond with a firm quote. Please refer to our Terms and Conditions in respect to additional charges and extras applicable to rental villas and apartment accommodation. Refundable security deposit. A refundable security deposit of € 900.00 (€300 x 3) is payable on arrival at the villa (can be in equivalent $US or £GBP). The deposit will be refunded on final inspection excepting in the event of damage or for the deduction of extras. Additional services and charges - payable locally on arrival (in Euros): - Mandatory cleaning fees: € 80 per week per apartment, including 2 hours of maid service, final cleaning on Saturdays and on departure;
- One set of bed and bath linen per week is included in the rental cost. Additional changes can be requested and will be charged at €12.00 per change per person;
- Late arrival fees - we will endeavour to accommodate, but cannot guarantee to satisfy requests for late arrival. The cost of pre-arranged late arrival (if available) will be advised at the time of booking. Unforeseen delays resulting in out of hours arrivals (if available) will incur a charge of € 50.00 payable to the local manager;

Other information - The season for pool opening is 10/05 - 25/10, depending on weather conditions;

Nearby localities
Nerano
Situated approximately 14 km from Sorrento, the Nerano locality is a primarily agricultural/fishing community which in bygone centuries had little to do with its neighbouring areas. Blessed by a pleasant climate, wonderful outlook and steep sun drenched descent towards the sea it was the enclave of a small number of families who handed down their interests from generation to generation. Even today it is possible to recognise a strong concentration of the family surnames.> more

Postcard views of Sorrento often concentrate on the impressive cliffs of volcanic rock (tufa) that run down along the coast in this area and plunge perilously into the sea.
