Description

Villa Lario is a substantial lakeside villa of 600 sqm, developing over three floors. The day area of the villa is at the ground floor, while all the bedrooms are at the upper levels, reached through two sets of staircases, each leading to the symmetrical wings of the house, linked by a corridor.

On the ground floor is the elegant marble entrance leading to a formal dining room with an open fireplace and French doors opening out to the lakeside terrace. An adjacent double lounge room offers comfortable seating, period furniture, a plasma TV and three sets of French doors opening onto the terrace, offering a beautiful lake view. The ultra modern kitchen includes a five-burner stove, fridge with ice maker, dishwasher, oven, microwave, and espresso machine. Also on this floor is a small bathroom with shower.

On the first floor are a study and two nicely decorated, double bedrooms, each with windows looking to the lake. There is also a twin bedroom with a lovely garden view as well two more double rooms. These five bedrooms share two large marble bathrooms, one with bathtub and shower and one with Jacuzzi bathtub.

Up one more level is the mansard with a large double bedroom (no view) with an adjoining single bed, TV and wardrobe. On the same floor are two twin bedrooms (not convertible into doubles). These bedrooms have skylights and share two spacious bathrooms, one with a shower and the other with a Jacuzzi tub.

Position:

Villa Lario enjoys a prime position in the most exclusive area of Lake Como, at a few kilometres from Cernobbio and Villa d'Este and only seven km from the centre of Como, with easy access to ferries and transport.

From the villa's private dock, guests can use a rental boat or water-taxi to visit the charming villages of Lake Como. Restaurants and shops are within walking distance.

Moltrasio

Moltrasio is one of the more picturesque villages on Lake Como. Located on the lower lake road between Cernobbio and Laglio it rambles down a hillside and has a lovely mountain river which cascades through the village after rain.

Since the construction of the tunnel which bypasses the lower lakeside road, the area has returned the area to its quiet origins. Along this road starting from the Villa d'Este are some important and historic villas, since acquired by some well known persons; George Cluney, Versace etc. It is in Moltrasio that Sir Winston Churchill decided to relax after WWII in the summer of 1945.

2012 prices are provisional and may be revised, however most owners will accept bookings at 2011 prices until the new prices are confirmed. Please send an enquiry and we'll respond with a firm quote.

Refundable security deposit

A refundable security deposit of € 2,000.00 is payable on arrival at the property. The deposit will be refunded on final inspection excepting in the event of damage or for the deduction of extras.

General Information:

Normal arrival times are between 15:30 (3:30pm) and 19:00 (7pm). Departure is by 10.00 on the day of departure.

Services included:

• Maid service on Wednesday and Saturday with change of linen; garden maintenance 5 days per week.
• Final cleaning
• Welcome dinner: guests will find a dinner ready in the kitchen with instructions for heating.. It consists of a pasta al forno, a vegetable pie, salad, and fruit. Bread, water and wine are included. The menu can fit vegetarian guests and no changes are possible for the first dinner.
• Basic grocery shopping: Includes items for first breakfast and is not a full grocery stocking. The quantity of the items will be adjusted by the staff according to the number of guests. The following items are included: milk, coffee, tea, bread, biscuits, sugar, salt, water, fruit, eggs, oil, butter, jam, orange juice, cereals

Extras:

• Utility deposit (unused portion of the utility deposit will be refunded in cash on departure): Eur 350 per week for air-conditioning or heating.
• Air-conditioning (if required): consumption for the amount of EUR 200 per week is included in the weekly price, what exceeds this amount is metered and deducted from the utility deposit (at cost, approx Eur 0.40 per Kw)).
• Wood for fireplace: please check price on the premises.
• Telephone: metered.
• Additional beds for 2 people in an extra bedroom if the maximum capacity of 14 pax is exceeded: EUR 100 per person per week.
• Baby bed if maximum capacity is exceeded: EUR 100 per week.
• Late arrival fees - we will endeavour to accommodate, but cannot guarantee to satisfy requests for late arrival. The cost of pre-arranged late arrival between 19.00 and 21.00 hours (if possible) will be advised at the time of booking. Unforeseen delays resulting in out of hours arrivals (if available) will incur a charge of € 50.00 payable to the local manager

Argegno

Argegno is one of the smallest municipalities around the lake and this alone is a good reason for visiting it. The Via Regina leads into an attractive tree lined square, with a choice of cafes and restaurants. Frome here a network of medieval alleys with gently sloping steps leads to the upper village, leading the discovery of unique corners: the Roman bridge over the river Telo, the Vicolo dei Mulini with its buildings perched high above the lake, and the 17th century channels dug into the rock have survived intact to this day.> more
