Le Marche, Hinterland, Apecchio
Apecchio is a delightful village with a population of approximately 2000 residents, although it swells in summer as holidaymakers join the summer festivities in and around the town. The town has a fossil museum and is home to Palazzo Ubaldini and other historical buildings. The town is also known for its mineral springs and wonderful truffles that are the subject of a wonderful festival in autumn.
Half an hour away is the famous university Renaissance town of Urbino, birthplace of the great masters Raphael, Bramante and Gentile da Fabriano. In the famous Palazzo Ducale there you can find the Galleria nazionale delle Marche, an art museum holding one of the Marche region's finest collections of Renaissance art.
