Umbria, one of the smallest regions of Italy, has a wealth of natural, cultural and artistic wonders that make up for its landlocked state. The province of Perugia in its centre is caracterised by mountains, rolling hills, medieval villages and of flowing rivers and streams heading down beautiful valleys towards its main lake, Trasimeno. The patchwork farms with healthy vineyards, colourful sunflowers and shady olive groves, are testament to its strong agricultural traditions whilst the ancient castles, towers and walled cities attest to its rich cultural history.
